Roanoke County celebrates new Career and Technology Center opening

Roanoke County celebrates new Career and Technology Center opening

After more than two years of construction, the 80 million dollar Roanoke County Career and Technology Center has officially opened its doors. The facility on Peters Creek Road held a ribbon cutting ceremony today to mark the completion of the 120 thousand square foot building.

The center will serve as the new home for county high school students who want to learn a trade before they graduate. It gives them a place to gain hands on experience in fields that connect directly to the local workforce.

The project took shape over a construction period that stretched past two years, and the finished building now stands as one of the larger investments in career training the county has made. Students from across the school division will be able to use the space for technical programs that prepare them for jobs after graduation.

Officials gathered at the site for the ceremony and highlighted the role the center will play in expanding options for students who are not focused on a traditional four year college path. The building includes dedicated areas for trade instruction and equipment that matches what students will encounter in the workplace.

The opening marks a shift for career and technical education in the county, bringing several programs under one roof and giving students more room to train. Classes are expected to begin in the new building as the school year moves forward.
